Day 4: Radford Virginia 7/4/15

So, the initial plan was to take Skyline Drive and the Blue Ridge Highway as an all day scenic drive for the 4th.  Thennnn the rains came.  Because of this, we ended up having a whole day in the random hotel town that I booked rather than just a night.  On the way down we say a sign for Virginia Tech only an exit away so I suggested we take a walk around campus and figured most colleges have a cute college town to match.

We walked around the campus for over an hour with the pups.  It was GORGEOUS! They had so much green space and this awesome pond to walk around.  We went to a yummy fish taco place for lunch and then wandered around a small farmer's market.

Then the REAL southern experience began...

We went to the Radford 4th of July Celebration.  Oh man.  That was a true Southern party.  That's ice cream made with an old John Deere tractor.  Of course it was delicious.  I got peach.  YUM!

Then we went back to the hotel.  We were going to check out this best rated restaurant on Yelp that was located IN a gas station.... fortunately unfortunately it was closed for the 4th.

We opted for Applebees because we were given a giftcard.  The dogs were exhausted from all of the walking so they went to bed early.

Here's what I want to drive across the country with next :) Airstream here we come!

Next Up: Day 5: Great Smoky National Park
