We got up early and hit the road for Estes Park/ Rocky Mtn
National Park. We were SO excited for
this because we LOVE RMNP. Like, are crazy obsessed with it. It is literally the most beautiful place in the entire world. Our first
stop HAD to be Donut Haus, which has the best donuts in the entire
universe.
The glazed were
unbelievable. They make a certain amount of donuts each day and then when they sell out they just close. I want a job like that!
Next stop: Rocky Mountain National Park! We decided to do the Cub Lake
trail up to the Pool and Cascade Falls.
We parked at the Park and Ride and of course Jeremy made friends with
the bus driver. She dropped us off at
Cub Lake after some recommendations for restaurants to go to in San Diego when we get there and off we went.
What an
absolutely gorgeous hike.
First we
passed a meadow that has regrown after a huge fire.
That's a behind the scenes look of Jeremy setting up Thor for his photo shoot.
There were scorched trees everywhere
but
there was still a lot of life!
We made
it to Cub Lake after 2.2 miles...
... and continued on to The Pool for another 1.7 miles.
The BEST part was when Pho kicked in and Jeremy needed to use “nature’s
bathroom” during the hike. Let’s just
say, we learned there is more than one way to use socks…
From the Pool we went
up to Fern Falls.
On our way to
Fern Falls we got a glimpse of another bear!!
He got away before I could catch him with the camera....
I think we hiked about 8 miles round trip.
Fern Falls!
And about a million chipmunks. On our way back down the trail a storm
came. First it was just raining and then
it started hailing! Huge pieces of ice
like the size of blueberries! It was
crazy… July and it’s hailing!
Along our
way we saw a couple of deer too. We were
trying to make the 2:08 bus and it was 1:50 and we still had .7 miles to get
the bus so we decided to get a run in for the day! We literally jogged the mile to catch the bus
JUST in time because it was 5 minutes early.
We headed back to the Park and Ride and started the hour ride back to
Boulder. Look what we saw along the way!

They're either alpacas or llamas - see we aren't the only ones who bring our pets along!
We picked up the dogs at the hotel and fould a local park
nearby in Louisville, CO. It was so
nice. They had walking trails and a HUGE
dog park with a dog swimming pond!! We
didn’t go in because there were a ton of dogs but we thought it might be fun
for the next day.
For dinner we went to an Italian place It was good – not great but good. We were so tired from hiking we just wanted
to go somewhere local. I of course needed
some dessert and looked up an ice cream place nearby called Sweet Cow. O.M.G. LITERALLY the BEST ice cream I have
ever had. It might not have even been
the ice cream.. it was the hot fudge. It
was unreal, out of this world. I
would’ve eaten 10 sundaes with that hot fudge.
We were exhausted from hiking and
walking the dogs so we went in for an early night.
